News: New kit thanks to donation

An Oldham football club has been able to kit out its team thanks to a generous donation by Aksa Housing.

Now the young Greenhill FC team can go onto play in the Tameside League for season 2007/08. The £5000 donation not only covers the costs for new kits, but will also help the team with transportation costs for away games.

Said club chairman Abid Hussain: “I am delighted to work with the Aksa Housing and I and the club committee very much appreciate the help from Aksa by making the donation.”

He added: “This will take us through another successful season and we want to make sure that young people are
enjoying themselves by participating in regular football activities the club provides.”

Greenhill FC was set up in 2004 due to a lack of sporting facilities for young people. The club has grown and developed immensely since then and they now have over 200 young people taking part in teams that range from 5yrs to under 16’s.

The club is run by local people voluntarily and has coaches who are qualified at various levels by the FA and UEFA and works in partnership with many local organisations and with various sections of the community

Aksa Housing Association’s managing director Sajjad Hussain said: ” The volunteers at Oldham Greenhill Football club give up a lot of their own time in order that the local youngsters can have quality football coaching.

“When we were approached to sponsor the new kits we had no hesitation in saying yes. We are very happy to be involved in our community and hope the new kits bring the club many trophies”.
